Your gift can be the difference between a child who lives free from pain, disability, and stigma and a childhood stolen by leprosy.
Kobita and Sameer were both diagnosed with leprosy. However, Kobita was diagnosed early and Sameer was diagnosed late. He has had to undergo three reconstructive surgeries in his young life. Your gift can prevent a lifetime of pain and stigma because of leprosy.
Leprosy is an ancient and modern disease. At more than 4,000 years old, it's one of the oldest diseases on the planet, and still it threatens children like Sameer and Kobita.
For the first time in human history, a world without leprosy is possible.
The Leprosy Mission's aspirational goal is to seen an end to leprosy transmission by 2035. With your help, it is possible.
Today, we have all the tools we need to end leprosy. Through active case finding, contact tracing and distributing a preventative antibiotic, leprosy can be stopped.
In the years to come, we will have revolutionary new diagnostic tests and we hope to have the first ever leprosy vaccine. With these tools, we have a plan that can end leprosy transmission.
However, leprosy is a neglected disease. What we need to end leprosy are the resources that neglected diseases too often lack. Your gift helps to make leprosy - and persons affected by leprosy - less neglected.
Thank you.
